The 58th Marmomac International Exhibition of Stone Design and Technology, held in Verona, Italy, once again proved to be one of the most prestigious global events in the natural stone industry. This year, Turkey made a strong impression with a remarkable presence.
With 1,400 exhibitors from 140 countries and over 50,000 visitors, Marmomac brought together leading producers, designers, and professionals aiming for success in the sector. A total of 153 Turkish companies participated in the event, showcasing a variety of natural stones, including marble, granite, travertine, mosaics, and other decorative products.
Strong Turkish Representation at Marmomac
For the 14th consecutive year, the Istanbul Mineral Exporters' Association (İMİB) organized Turkey’s national participation, hosting 41 companies under its umbrella. The Turkish pavilion, spanning 1,800 square meters, featured an impressive display of high-quality stones and innovative designs. The event also attracted diplomatic attention, with Mehmet Özöktem, the Consul General of Turkey in Milan, visiting the exhibition alongside Trade Attachés Ahmet Erkan Çetinkayış and Kadir Eser.
A Key Global Event for the Industry
Commenting on the significance of the fair, İMİB Board Member Gökhan Murathan emphasized that Marmomac remains one of the largest and most prestigious trade fairs in the field of natural stones, machinery, and equipment.
“This event is a key meeting point for the world's leading producers, suppliers, and buyers. The combination of natural stones and technology, along with the presence of major global producers, makes Marmomac an essential event for the sector. Additionally, the fair highlights the relationship between natural stone and design, showcasing innovative applications in the construction industry,” said Murathan.
Connecting with International Buyers
Another crucial aspect of Marmomac is its role as a hub for buying and selling raw materials in the natural stone industry. Murathan noted that the global use of natural stones in construction and interior design has been steadily increasing in recent years, with architects and designers showing greater interest in these materials.
Although Turkey has faced some challenges in exports due to rising costs and economic fluctuations, İMİB continues to participate in international fairs and organize trade delegations to connect with foreign buyers.
“Marmomac is a valuable opportunity for us. This year, we successfully coordinated the national participation of 41 companies while also supporting 110 individual exhibitors. Based on our past experiences, we worked closely with the fair management to optimize booth placements, ensuring better visitor flow. These strategic changes have already proven effective in attracting more visitors to our area,” Murathan added.
With ongoing efforts and strategic initiatives, the Turkish natural stone industry is determined to strengthen its global position and reach new heights in exports.
